LOCALISM Launch party: Kate Hutchinson & Roxanne Roll
LOCALISM: YOUR NEW LATE NIGHT LOCAL & UNDERGROUND DISCO Localism is the straight up new night just round the corner and open for everyone. You’ll find London’s greatest DJs every Friday night playing the best electronic dance floor music for you and your friends all summer. Lisa Jelliffe, professionally known as DJ Roxanne Roll, is an internationally touring DJ, producer and creative director based in Los Angeles who can be found playing honky tonk bangers in the desert joints of Joshua Tree and Glastonbury, campy nuggets at the beaches of Fire Island NYC and Balearic rarities poolside at Pike’s Ibiza. Originally from Australia and heavily shaped by a decade-long career in London, she is best known as the co-founder and mastermind behind Fleetmac Wood, a hugely influential club night, remix project and global phenomenon dedicated exclusively to the discography of Fleetwood Mac. With over two decades behind the decks, Roll’s signature style seamlessly blends cosmic bangers, melodic house, psych-disco and beyond. Renowned for her custom edits, she produces deep-cut reworks of classic artists like Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush and The Rolling Stones. Kate Hutchinson is an acclaimed London-based DJ, journalist and broadcaster who has been a prominent fixture on the UK’s cultural airwaves for nearly two decades. She hosts a fortnightly show on Soho Radio and was a long-time monthly host on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, while her DJing has taken her to Lake of Stars in Malawi, Studio Lam in Bangkok, Nyege Nyege in Uganda and the Oxfam in Dalston, where she once warmed up for Fatboy Slim. Kate has a distinctively borderless approach to curation – her selections are characterised by heavy percussive grooves, leftfield, Afro-Latin house, abstract electronic music and the occasional cheeky edit. Beyond the decks, she has programmed music at major UK cultural institutions and like Tate Modern, as well as producing award-winning podcast The Last Bohemians. Free entry, great drinks, an amazing sound system and dance floor. No secret stuff, no guest list, no VIPs, no unannounced DJ hype, no rules. Just cool welcoming vibes until 3am with good people having a really nice time Xx
