Silverlining Dubs in the Pub (xviii)
We're back at the pub for what's likely to be the last Dubs in the Pub for the foreseeable, while we make way for some exciting new concepts that will be revealed soon, as well as the next chapter in the Forgotten Chorus techno series. The Dubs name has served us well, as my sound was largely informed by the concept of the house dub, often found on the B2 of US house records, as well as an approach to DJing that reflects the selective use of vocals and effects pioneered by the original sound system selectors. However, this is one part of the musical spectrum that we enjoy, and over time, the party's sound and crowd have evolved to embrace a wider ambit. Stay tuned for some fresh news on this! For now, we're wrapping up this beautiful chapter at Lion and Lamb this Friday for one big dance-off. It's been a while since I did an all-night long, and having bought a heap of new records before Gottwood this past weekend, I'm eager to give them an airing on Friday. All-night-longs are not about 'me' but about building a deeper and more profound connection with the crowd and riding the roller-coaster of moods and tones that this synergy demands. As ever, the main acts of the night are in front of the booth, where collective joy is shared during these dark times and where friendships are forged. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces on Friday!
