106th CZECH DERBY
The Derby is the absolute highlight of Prague's horse racing calendar, when the best three-year-old horses compete against each other. This sporting and social event takes place every year in Prague-Velká Chuchle in the last ten days of June. Victory in the Derby will indelibly inscribe the name of the winning horse in history and give it the best possible introduction for later breeding. The Czech Derby in June marks the culmination of the first part of the racing season. Together with two other classic tests for three-year-old horses, the Velká jarní cena (Great Spring Prize) in May and the St Leger in September, it forms the so-called classic Triple Crown.
