Parisian artist Dabeull is the epitome of today’s Vintage Funk.

“Rest assured, I want to keep the spirit of Street Funk alive, but lightly sprinkled with sugar”

Meticulous in his production, Dabeull brings an air of joy to his music. Inspired by the likes of Niles Rodgers and Prince, his true love is for the original funk superstars such as The Bar-Kays and Kleeer.

An artist by trade Dabeull's style is pastiche yet evokes an inimitable quality unfamiliar in this day and age. His 'In Da Studio' tracks have been a revelation among young and up-and-coming lovers of disco, funk and groove.

Fuelled by a meeting with Cézaire, head of Roche Musique (FKJ, Kartell, Darius), his “In Da Studio” compilation album and corresponding web series went viral. The album cover features a character all dressed in white, much like a laughing Dr. Strangelove, with a prominent moustache, surrounded by his vintage machines that create the Dabeull sound.

An illustrious journey since the days of Myspace has seen him work with huge acts such as Cerrone, Holybrune and Aloe Blacc.

"My goal is to make music the way it was made back in the days – late 70s, early 80s – I wish they would have kept making it that way so I am doing it for them” he says with a smile.
