FISH TANK + DOG

The Forever Young Film Club celebrate the work of one of the UK’s greatest directors, Andrea Arnold.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Fish Tank, Arnold’s blistering portrait of a rebellious teen yearning for bigger things than her dysfunctional life in a rundown council estate won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and the BAFTA for Best British Film.

Screening with the film will be one of Arnold’s early short films, Dog (2001), about a teenage girl awakening to the true nature of her boyfriend during an encounter with a stray dog.

Not only do both films serve as an introduction to the lyrical and arresting work of Arnold, but they also offer two painfully authentic slices of the coming-of-age experiences of young, British working class women.

The Forever Young Film Club are a collective celebrating and reappraising coming of age and teen films through regular screenings and events. @fyfilmclub
