PAIN AND GLORY

Director: Pedro Almodóvar
Cast: Antonio Banderas, Penélope Cruz, Asier Etxeandia, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Nora Navas, Cecilia Roth, Raúl Arévalo
A film director reflects on the choices he's made in life as the past and present come crashing down around him.
Pedro Almodóvar’s intensely personal 21st film is a scrapbook of the director’s memories.

Long-time Almodóvar leading man Antonio Banderas stars in Pain and Glory as Salvador Mallo, a director whose physical ailments have led into an almost hermit-like existence, before he is reunited with an actor from his past and embarks on a wild new chapter.

Pedro Almodóvar’s hotly anticipated, semi-autobiographic film takes you inside Salvador’s mind as he reflects on his personal and professional past. Via a series of flashbacks and present-day encounters, we revisit some of his most important relationships, with his mother (played by an on-form, disgruntled Penélope Cruz), his former leading man and his early loves.

Alongside Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz appear Asier Etxeandia, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Nora Navas and Julieta Serrano.

Writer/Director Pedro Almodóvar is one of Spain’s most celebrated filmmakers with numerous accolades to his name including an Academy Award®, four BAFTAs, numerous Goyas and over 100 further wins and nominations. His credits include Volver, The Skin I Live In, Broken Embraces and most recently Julieta.
